Thing-a-Day - 15/28 - Wooden Toys
Wooden toys

I bought these little wooden toys awhile ago and, while I tried painting some of them, I was not happy with the results. I thought I'd try woodburning some of them, and I think I like the result better.

Before

After

There are some pieces too small for very small children, but I think they might be fun for kids old enough not to stick things into their mouths... or easily amused adults.

The finished products are adorable, especially with the addition of the googly eyes!

Thanks... the eyes are woodburned too, though, not googly eyes.

glarg... I fail at looking at things... or, alternatively, I may have an unhealthy obsession with googly eyes...

Actually... I *did* buy a bag of them, and some craft glue, with the intention of putting them on face-like places out in the world... so perhaps this is my problem...

Sometimes, you're just brilliant.

Does the rat's tail move? I think it should...

At first glance I thought that thing was an armadillo, but it has occurred to me that perhaps rats are more common.

:) yes, the tail moves and I thought it was a rat/mouse, but I suppose one could decorate it like an armadillo too... Maybe even an opossum.

Too cute! Woodburning gives them character.
