What a weekend...
This past weekend was a crazy-busy one. My greatest apologies to those I crapped out on at one point or another - I got sooooo much done, though! (I wasn't really reading email lists or LJ, so let me know if I missed something of note) Part of the crazy effort was because of a visit today from an appraiser for my refinance and partly in preparation for company this weekend. I still need to do a fair bit of caulking in the bathroom and, as always, should straighten the sewing room, but in general the house is spic and span! :)

The one major thing of note: reneekytokorpi  is now officially a Wayward Girl! She moved into the Home for Wayward Girls this weekend!

Friday:
Work (I had swapped for last Monday since my co-worker wanted the Friday off)
Got home, ironed a gown, prepped some small projects, had a short phone call
Went to goldfrog's, cut the sleeves to length, sewed and embroidered them, picked up a package
Back home, sew for all I am worth, finish several projects and pack them up for delivery to Gulf Wars
  • GW delivery inventory: One doublet, one jerkin, two scarves (one from me, one from[info]mightyjesse ), one tunic (also from mj), a necklace, whipcording, a dinner, a CD, and beer.
Bed at 5AM Saturday, package picked up by ninjas, pixies, or maybe ego_id_non_feci .

Saturday
Sleep in a bit (feel utterly justified about it - see bedtime above)
Sell some linen to a local lady responding to my craigslist ad
Clean my room, downstairs bath, laundry room and furnace room, identify a large pile of "to give away"
Run to Menards with kumakun  and pick up various supplies for repairs/improvements
Painting the upstairs bath that kumakun  had started while mightyjesse  kept me company
Realize there is no way I'm making it to  leleth_faery 's party
Midnight dinner at Perkins with mightyjesse  - I was starving AND retaded tired, a really special combo.

Sunday
Sleep in until 10, talk to gflower  who lets me weasle out of househunting with her
Finish painting the bathroom, begin cleaning the bathroom
Realize I am SO behind and hire splott  to assist
Tidy up back porch, realize I had not yet eaten, scarf some yogurt and pizza, help renee sort kitchen items, Magic Eraser cabinets
Realize I'm exhausted, put a blanket on my bed to protect it from my yucky self, passed out for about 15 min
Saw arebekah, got peep froggies, gave her a woodburned elephant  - wins all around
Cleaned the TV room and did some straightening in the sewing room
Target run for caffiene, bath linens, and other finishing touches - failed to find two highly desirable items, but no time to search further
Succeed in obtaining fries and shamrock shakes for "dinner"
Put in a new shower rod, shower curtains, towel hook, shelf/towel bar, window decal, and new bath linens in the upstairs bath
Put new bath linens in the downstairs bath and do a touch-up cleaning
Rearranged framed award scrolls in the upstairs hallway - corvusjoyous' departure left some serious holes
Shower. Pass out.

Monday
Wake up at 5AM with a migraine. Consequently get to work late. Have serious brain mush. Consequently have boss send me home.
Last minute tidying and cleaning birdies
Show house to appraiser (obnoxious, inconsiderate man. Note to self: recommend UWCU not use him any more)
Pass out.
Pick up bread starter from leleth_faery, go to UPS store for goldfrog, visit redhead_viking to see his spawn, talk with dad, stop at USPS
Home again for dinner-from-a-box, email, talk with mom, LJ catch-up, Daily Show/Colbert Report

I am looking forward to the end of the week, but I'm hoping the middle will be quieter and more relaxed than the weekend was!

Bed again shortly!

What's the deal with sourdough starter? The bread is tasty and all, but why? We have easy access to yeast so we don't need to constantly keep an active culture of it in order to leaven our bread.

Have you *tasted* sourdough (*real* sourdough!)??? It's worth the (minimal) trouble to maintain a starter! : )

All the best! Snorri.

Perhaps I haven't, though I have made it twice from scratch.

Not to mention yeast from a package isn't nearly as fun as keeping a culture alive. Then again, I'm something of a biology geek, so I have some odd things that I find cool.

Speaking of biology geekage - can you use wine bottles as well as beer bottles, or just the smaller ones?
robstoutrobstout on March 18th, 2009 11:16 pm (UTC)
Regrettably not. Regular wine bottles aren't thick enough to support carbonation. However, Champagne bottles are thick enough to hold up to the carbonation

For pretty much the same reason we weave our own fabric and sew our own clothes - partly because it is educational, partly because it is fun, and partly because the results are worth the extra care.

Having suitably caulked your bathroom, may she sail straight & true, especially with a following breeze!

"Avast!" "Ahoy!" & other suitably nautical jargon! (yes, I realise that you are land-locked--don't let it cramp your maritime ambitions... : )

Aye, Aye, matey!
