That is a great picture... though, maybe it counts as 4.5 generations? :p

Does "generations of fish" mean "successive landed barons and baronesses from my group" for us non-Northshielders?
eithnieithni on November 17th, 2009 02:28 am (UTC)
Exactly.
teffanteffan on November 17th, 2009 03:25 am (UTC)
L-R: Josceline and Adrien, Aesa (holding Maren) and Raito, Eithni, Giles and Shava. Chronologically, Giles/Shava, Josceline/Adrien, Eithni, Aesa/Raito.

Who sat the Jara thrones before Giles and Elishava?
eithnieithni on November 17th, 2009 06:15 am (UTC)
First was Asdis Steffansdottir (spelling?) and she served part of her time with one baron, part alone, and part with a second baron, but I don't recall their dates/names well enough to take a stab at that chronology. (where's Josceline?...) Then there was Rathlin and Elspeth, who stepped down just a few months after I joined.

I can't remember Asdis' husbands name who was the first Baron. Rathlin was the second Baron she served with before she stepped down and Rathlin's wife Elspeth stepped up.

If one wanted to go into gorey details, one could include the folks that R and E were positive they were going to leverage in as their successors.

When older folks reference Jara's ugly politics, it generally seems to coincide with R and E.

Thomas something was Asdis' first Baron IIRC. I just could not remember the last names/dates/lengths of the Baron's tenures.

His surname was Twelvetongues (or Twelftongr, or something like that). I don't know when he left (it was well before my time). Asdis was solo when I first started playing. Rathlin was installed on a trial basis by Reynard & Brynhildr at Boar's Head in 1988 (the same event where Valerius & Alice were invested as B&B of CAM, replacing Dougal & Mfanwy). The appointment was made permanent by Palymar at the Midrealm 20-year celebration at Bong Recreation Center (really) the following summer (a camping event disrupted by a tornado - it may have been an omen).

Asdis stepped down, and Elspeth was invested as Baroness at the Midrealm Crown Tourney Jara hosted in October of 1991. It was only the second Crown Tourney held in Jara, the first (at Hoyt Park) having been won by Michael of Boarshaven. Perhaps another omen.

Yay! I knew Dame J would have the answer!

And one to put in the baronial archives

What a fabulous picture. You'd think you all had planned the jewel tones to match! Except you, Eithni, you've always got to be the maverick...but of course, that's one of the things I love about you!

That's me. The rebel. The pastel-wearing rebel. :p

OT: Green Fabric
Just out of curiosity, is that the green fabric you dyed at Pennsic?
eithnieithni on November 17th, 2009 06:12 am (UTC)
Re: OT: Green Fabric
Sadly, no. It is my laureling gown and the coat from Griffin Needle, though.

Mine is not so cool but here are the last five barons....

That's really wonderful. And I am afraid that one of the things I happily noted was the absence of R&E.
