Plans... *BOOM*
Awhile back, I thought the end of April/beginning of May would be a fine time to take a vacation, Iceland or Scotland as the high value targets. For a variety of reasons, I decided to postpone until the fall... Turns out that was a good decision since those plans would have been blown up by the Icelandic volcano.

This week, when it looked like my formulary was actually gong to be done by Wednesday, I hatched a mad plan of dashing out to NYC and seeing some neat shows at the Met and the Pierpoint Morgan Library. Specifically, the Met has a Bronzino show, some Mourners statues from the grave of a 15thc Duke of Burgundy, and the Belles Heures of Duc du Berry unbound (i.e. you can see ALL the pages right now) while the Pierpoint has the Hours of Catherine of Cleves also unbound. Om nom nom. (Seriously, check out the links, particularly the mourners, as the ability to zoom in on costuming details is superb! it's also worth noting that the Mourners will be in MSP next January 23-April 17. Just sayin') However, THOSE plans were blown up by my formulary development process. Poo. I really thought I'd have it done, but here it is Friday afternoon and we are just now ready to try the first submission. *sigh*

I do think I'll be going out in about a week and a half, though, since I am now hooked on the idea. I'll miss the Bronzino show, but they will have a special Picasso exhibit instead, so not a complete loss...

However, I now have a four day weekend that I arranged to spend in NYC but can do a limited amount of fun stuff at home since I royally mucked up my right wrist last weekend. One of the NPs at work looked at it and said, yup, sprained - RICE it. I had been making do with a little elastic brace, but we've graduated to a more substantial one. It's weird, but the added support is really very helpful... So, no crafting this weekend. Ugh. That means I might need to actually do crap like cleaning and some of the low-dexterity projects I've been putting off. :P

See, I'd be TRYING to go to Iceland right now, just to watch the action. I climbed that glacier a decade ago, right after my brain infection, and I love geology.

Yeah, if I'd bought tickets and the flight was still scheduled, I'd go, but all the geodorks are going and so airline prices popped up. :p

Well, it all works out in the end I guess...see the universe told you to slow down...you can't be faboulously awesome all of the time. (I kid, I kid). The MET trip did sound awesome.

Though the more I want to go to Iceland, the more I realize I can't due to the sulfur allergy. Bad place for me.

You're allergic to sulfur? Or sulfa antibiotics?
raventhourneraventhourne on April 16th, 2010 08:44 pm (UTC)
Both.

Sulfa antibiotics make me not heal.
Sulfur gives me anaphylactic stuff, found out playing with gun powder and having food dusted with sulfur dioxide for preservation.

Wow! Usually it's just the Abx. :p

Freaking volcano.

I understand that on its own, it's a thing of beauty. But it's making me miss an A&S event in a castle in Germany, and that makes me sad.
