Attachment to Things...
As part of the attempt to reduce the amount of stuff I have in my life, I have been getting rid of a lot of things. I have been trying to be careful to get rid of only those things I would not miss or regret giving away. I have had my granny's coat since she passed away about a decade ago. I wore it a few times in college when I could not afford a winter coat, but it was not really my style, so it mostly just hung in the closet. It was ridiculous to keep it when it was just taking up space, so I took it to work and hung it on the seasonal clothing donation rack where staff can put items for our members who are in need.

It was sort of nice, being able to see it every day and to think of my granny. It was there for about two months...and today it was gone. I don't really regret donating it, but it is an oddly lonely feeling, not to have it hanging there.

It is so nice to be able to give your grandmother the chance to help someone else stay warm, after helping you stay warm. *hugs*
