OK, so a post with content. :P
I have not been very good about keeping up with posting about Life Stuff. I've been so busy, it's pretty much been just little bits of this-and-that that catch my eye and I keep meaning to do a real update. I'm avoiding other work, so here it is!

House stuff -

I had a showing last week on Friday. The lady seemed to really like the place, and she LOVED the green kitchen, but she admitted they were just getting their own house on the market and it would probably be some weeks before they could even start thinking about putting in an offer on anything. I was one of the first houses she had looked at, but she kept mentioning how this would be a "serious downsizing" for them. Yipes! My house isn't a McMansion, but it's not a tiny little cottage either! Anyway, thanks all for the good juju!

Murder Mystery Stuff -

Last week Tomas and Sibyl held a birthday murder mystery dinner. It was a 20's speakeasy theme and was really a lot of fun. Everyone did a good job with the costuming and we even got fake cigarettes and cigars that blew "smoke" from Mallatt's. After the murder was "solved" we stayed up drinking and talking until almost 4AM. I had premedicated, but the kitties were killing me by the morning - probably because they are evil and can sense weakness - when I woke up in the middle of the night, both kittens and Megan were asleep within a few feet of my head. :P Silly kittehs. Anyway, much fun!

Birthday Stuff -
I had a low-key, but very awesome trio of "birthdays." Wednesday sucked pretty hard all day until I left for fighter practice. Fighter practice was good, despite a little drama. I got an awesome present from damej  that I am very much looking forward to using! Social practice was fun and I had a few Scotches to celebrate. People dispersed very quickly at the end of the night, though, so the end of the evening was a little odd.

Thursday was my birthday proper but I went to work anyway, since there were things that needed to be done. I got dressed up, though, just for fun and so I'd be all pretty-fied for they day's festivities. I went out to lunch with two coworkers - it took longer than we'd planned, but was completely worth it and I think very good for one of them - she so completely needs a break. After work, I ran home, grabbed dread_ex , and we scooted downtown for a talk on a manuscript exhibit. the talk was good and the exhibit a lot of fun, but dread_ex  was that guy - the curator said a 13th century binding was dyed with cochineal (a New World dye) so we ended up having a conversation with her about how it probably was kermes or lac, since those were old world options. (geekgeekgeekgeekgeek). They kicked us out pretty quickly (because the museum was closing, not because we were bad people), so we decided to come back again on Friday. I had not made reservations since I didn't know who would be joining us or what time we would be done, and we could not find a place that had any open reservations, so we had to settle for Texas Roadhouse instead of a Restaurant Week selection. Still, steak and good company made for a worthwhile night. A trip to Half Price Books and a cider while watching the Daily Show rounded out the night.

Today, dread_ex  and I slept in before revisiting the manuscript exhibit. While we were in the building, I dropped into the Art Library to visit my baby - a first edition copy of the Early Christian Monuments of Scotland. It had lived with me for a few years while I was in pharmacy school before they cruelly made me return it upon graduation. I insisted they put it in the cage, though, due to its fragile state and rarity. (OK, so I threatened that if it were not put in Special Collections or the cage, they would find that it had been checked out and never returned, since if they did not appreciate it, they didn't deserve to have it. ;P) I have a copy of my very own these days, but I still visit when I can. After the museum, we went to lunch at Gauge's restaurant - Steenbock's on Orchard - which had really wonderful food at really quite reasonable prices. Then, we headed over to Hilldale and the Sundance Theatre for The King's Speech, which was a good flick, in addition to being full of Firthy goodness. We had a desert at a little Italian place, then returned to my place. dread_ex headed out, I took a power nap, then went to join aaron_pike  and relativelylucid  for dinner at Quiveys Grove. Mmmm... tasty, tasty duck (and brussel sprouts, since they foolishly didn't want theirs) and a really divine chocolate cake for dessert.

My big Planz for an actual birthday party and mayhem will come to fruition in May or June. Stay tuned. ;)

Health Stuff -

The working out seems to be going reasonably well, but with the weather being so cold and damp, it's hard to say whether it is helping or not. On the medical front, the good news is that I finally got the Rheumatology referral to go to the right person at the right place and they called to get me an appointment scheduled. The bad news is that the first date they had open for new patients was (wait for it...) July 8. Um. No, no I can't make that date work. :p So, July 22 it is. *sigh* I am on the cancellation list at least...

And so it goes...

Ooooh, a Fish fry would be fun. Sile is going to come into town this week, so would next Friday (2/11) work? If not, I'll try to convince Sile to join us. :)
