A common theme on teh intarwebz this week...
While I like having things in common with my many friends, I wish so many of us were not simultaneously preparing for grim ceremonies this week...

Right after the Super Bowl, I got the call that my Uncle Mike had passed away earlier that day. He's been living in Montana near that branch of the family for some time, so I have only seen him infrequently in recent years, but he was a fixture of my childhood. His family of origin lives in Milwaukee, so my Aunt Elaine and Uncle Steve are currently traveling with him by train - they should arrive tomorrow night. Sometime tomorrow my sister, brother-in-law and nibling will arrive. My mom and the rest of the family will descend on Milwaukee Thursday night. I have a meeting I really can't miss on Thursday morning and then, after lunch and an oil change, I'll be on my way too. The funeral will probably be on Friday, but is pending the exact arrival time of the train. We should know sometime tomorrow. :/

So, yeah, probably mostly offline Thursday and Friday. I'm running a little behind on pretty much everything, so don't be offended if I take a little longer than usual to respond.

ETA: No, it was not expected. He was only 58 and it appears it was a heart attack in bed. :/

Much sympathy to you and your family. I'll lift you up in my prayers. And talk to you again when you are able.

Safe travels...

My sympathies for your loss. Travel safe...

Let me know if you need help on any projects, as always. Demands on my time will slack off a lot after Saturday - the perfect time to enlist me on any WW minionage you want!

Ouch. Yes, this has been a disturbing theme. I think in some cases, some of our relatives held on past the holidays then slipped away. Others, it's an oddly large number of closely timed deaths, to feel like "coincidence" no longer means what we think it meant.

All my love and hugs to you.

Aw, nuts. February is officially FIRED for too much stuff like this! People losing jobs, people losing people - wtf ?

If I thought you'd have time (or the inclination), I'd take you out to dinner while you're in Mke, but I suspect you'll be busy with family, and that's as it should be.

If otherwise, I think you've got my cell phone, yes?

And if you need a place to crash, we've got a comfy couch. We're near the airport, so on the south/east side of things.

Amen. Although, I'd like to fire most of the last five years, so there you have it.

Thanks for the offer - I'll give you a call if things are slow - the funeral is not until Saturday morning, but I am heading down tonight. The good part about this is that my sister came out with the nibling, who I don't get to see much as they live in Montana.

Could you do me a favor and send me the info for the work moot? I'm thinking I might sneak off after the funeral brunch and unwind with peeps.
