A weekend escape
Well, after a very long week, apparently what I most needed was another roadtrip. The ride out to Coronation went smoothly and gflower  was a lovely companion as always. The hotel room was posh and relaxing, though I spent very little time there. The event itself was packed with fun, socialization, and activities while being low on real responsibility, so that was good. I started the morning right with some costume-geeking and fit Katsuo for a doublet while showing some ladies how the fitting process was performed. I spoke with a potential new student and got to spend time with a current apprentice and her spawn. I got to play with TWO adorable toddlers and one of them even let me play with her awesome froggie playground ball. There was A&S viewing and judging, peerage meetings, a WW autocrat meeting, courts, the wearing of my most awesome new hat, and a whole lot of schmoozing. Faboo. :) Dinner out withiarroganti  and main_gauche  was pleasant and I indulged in some liver and onions from the family restaurant that the SCAfolk invaded. The postreveling was a great deal of fun, even allowing for someone throwing out my Scotch when I left it unattended for a moment because she said it "smelled funny". :P (Silly lady, that is an indicator that it is tasty!) I spent some time trying to un-knot a friend's back, with some success - there's a certain satisfaction in beating muscles into submission. There were a multitude of good Scotches, as had been predicted, and the evening was full of fun and laughter, so in all, a most wonderful way to end the event.

Today was mostly consumed with the drive home and catching up on email and other tasks that piled up over the week. This evening will be laundry - in addition to the usual laundry monster, I have a number of pieces I acquired over the weekend that need special care and mad skillz. (General PSA - Doritos are generally a bad plan for involving in practical jokes when wools and silks are involved, it will only end in tears.) If I'm motivated, there will be some sewing. More likely, I'll settle in for a quiet night with a book and turn in early - this week is going to be killer at work so I may as well enter it content and well-rested.

Tanks for the heads-up about the traffic slowdown near Oakdale. We got on Highway 12 in Tomah and decided to take it all the way to the Dells (we planned to stop there for dinner anyway). The scenery was interesting.
