Eithni's Home for Wayward... Budgies?

We joke about it being the Home for Wayward Girls, and while we have certainly see our share of those, we have yet another second-hand budgie in residence. He is a very light grey and his current name is Sherlock, but that might change if it doesn't grow on me.

Here he is getting to know Nechtan while Alba does her best to get as far away from the boys as possible. :P

It's funny, come to think of it, Derelei was the only budgie I got "new" and on purpose. Nechtan came from a rescue website because he was an unwanted and neglected bird. Tweet was a foundling from valkyr8's yard. Astrid came from the Bin of Budget Budgies because they apparently have trouble selling red-eyed yellow birds. Alba I fell in love with at the Humane Society - there was no statement as to why she had been surrendered, but in retrospect, her reserved and quiet manner probably contributed. And now Sherlock comes to us from swords_and_pens' abode.

Apparently, I have a soft spot for slightly irregular birds, as well as people...

Oh, I love budgies! I've never had a bird, but I've always thought budgies were lovely, so I'm glad you have a soft heart. :)

Budgies are actually very easy to keep. I usually let mine out for a few hours each night so they can fly around, but when I go away for the weekend (or up to four days) I don't need to get a birdie sitter - I just put in a treat stick and an extra water dish and they are in business. They are friendly, pretty, affectionate, and have silly little personalities without being as emotionally needy as the bigger parrots.
