pinivorous, adj.
Etymology: <  classical Latin pīnus pine n.2 + -ivorous comb. form, probably after scientific Latin pinivorus (1868 or earlier as a specific name). Compare French pinivore (1868 or earlier).
N.E.D.(1906) gives the pronunciation as (pəini·vŏrəs) /paɪˈnɪvərəs/.
Zool. Obs. rare.
Feeding on pine kernels.
1884 E. Coues Key to N. Amer. Birds 418 Habits..alpine and subboreal, pinicoline and pinivorous.


Huh. And I would have guessed that my easy chair was pinivorous, based on the number of pins it consumes.
