I just found out that 2008 is the Year of the Frog!

:)~

The Amphibian Ark project is working to collect and preserve endangered frog species, many of whom are being killed by Chytrid fungus. (I knew fungus was evil...)

Henry Vilas Zoo, even though it is just a tiny free zoo, has a really great breeding and conservation program in its herpetarium, so Madison has a really neat froggie resource right in our backyards. If you have not seen it, it is something not to miss if you get the chance to visit the zoo.

EDIT: Froggie bonus! See the clear frogs in this News of the Weird Top 10. :)

*giggle*

OK, way silly thing today! At work we are working on Medicare reporting and two of my friends (one of whom really likes froggies too,) are stuck crunching the big ugly numbers needed for 2007 reporting. They are two weeks in and getting a little stressed and punchy... they keep having little contests just to keep things interesting or to determine who has to do the uglier calculation... so I made them little froggies to race, just for fun.

The pattern is called Super-Frog and is from the most wonderful UW. :)~

The first one didn't turn out - construction paper is too heavy for this pattern (which is sad because it was cool patterned paper). Even the printer paper is a little heavy, but my origami paper is all pink and purple, not really froggie-ish colors. The colors don't show real well in this photo, but the left is a dark green and the right is a kitchen green. Googly eyes and tongues were added just for silly fun.
