So, it appears that fewer and fewer people are going to Gulf Wars this year. This is sad. Tragic, really...
Therefore, I am hosting "Gulf Wars North" - a weekend of fun and activities on a Gulf Wars-ish theme! I can't promise the weather will be nice and warm, but then again the first year I went to Gulf Wars, Chicago was 20 degrees warmer than Hattisburg for most of the week!
What: Gulf Wars North
Where: Eithni's Home for Wayward Girls (4934 Goldfinch Dr, Madison)
When: Saturday, March 8th and Sunday, March 9th
Why: To have fun and enjoy some of the best parts of Gulf Wars, even if we can't be there!Join us for a weekend of fun and activities!
Artisan's Row
Saturday Afternoon (Noon until dinnertime)Eithni's Home for Wayward Girls will be open for project and research time. Bring whatever you are working on and enjoy a low-key afternoon of crafting. Or, even better! Bring a spare set and try to hook someone else on your favorite flavor of crafting crack. Eithni will spend some of the afternoon preparing dinner, but with otherwise be available for consultation on projects or assistance locating research materials.
Dinner at the Food Court
Saturday 6PMishEithni will be serving several dishes inspired by the Gulf Wars fare, hopefully to include Gode Cookery cookies, Green Rice Bowl lamb nuggets, sweet tea, BBQ, and more. Bring a dish to pass if you can, come to dinner even if you can't. If you know what you will be bringing or would like to request something in particular to appear on the menu, contact Eithni.
Carousing
Saturday 8ish-lateCome in party-going gear or as you are for a night of munchies and tropical drinks. Showings of
Pirates of the Caribbean and similar movies are possible, fun and silliness are certain.
A Good Day to D(i/y)e
Sunday noon-?The fighter types can meet at the Stock Pavilion for fightin' while those interested in stinky water are welcome at the Home for Wayward girls for a day of dyeing. Come help
dread_ex and I break in our three-kindergartner pot! I have madder and onion skins, but please feel free to bring other dyestuffs or let me know if there are other colors you would like to try and I'll see what I can do...
Since I am opening this up pretty widely, please send me an email or leave a comment so I know how much to cook for dinner and how much party goodness to have on hand. Out of towners, please contact me if you are interested in crashing at the Home for Wayward girls. Other local folk, let me know if you are interested in/able to host crashers.
