OK, since there has been enough of an outcry for certain items, I am (with all due trepidation :P) opening up the linen order to a few more items. These are for pick-up at Coronation, in 5 yard lengths, I cannot be certain that anything over 20 yards will be in one piece (i.e. some of them only come on 20 yard bolts).

Brocade $10-11/yard:
white linen brocade, 59" width, 6.5 oz, acanthus leaf type pattern

White Handkerchief Linen $7.50-8/yard:
57" wide, 3.5 oz

Black Linen $6.50-7.50/yard
59" width, 5.3 oz - a rich flat black

Gold Linen $6.50-7.50/yard
59" width, 5.3 oz - a deep gold - same color I had at the SP last week, a beautiful NS Gold

Some of these are on sale through Sunday, but I don't know if the sale continues through next week, so I'll be putting in an order on Sunday evening and orders received by 5PM Sunday will definitely get the lower end of the quoted price range. Later orders MAY be at the higher range. If I do not get a minimum order of each color/weight, I may need to cancel that part of the order...

If there is a color you are desperate for, contact me off line with appropriate bribes and I may be swayed by your sad plight. ;P

I am about to put in a linen order again, this time for white linen. It is 5.3 oz linen, so just right for shirts and such and should run about $5/yard, including shipping. (For reference purposes, "handkerchief linen" is usually about 3-4 oz, so this is slightly heavier and more opaque without being super heavy.)

However, I would like to simplify my life and so if you want in on this order, there are some additional rules this time:
* Linen must be ordered in 5 yard increments (i.e. 5, 10, 15... yards)
* All orders must be picked up and paid for at either at Jara's Wednesday practice or Coronation. (You may have it collected by a proxy.)

I will be taking orders through Thursday night and ordering on Friday morning, so think about it, make your calculations, and get your orders in!

I'm usually not much of one for anime, but [info]corvusjoyous had some friends over tonight for a geekfest. They played a board game and then came downstairs to watch a movie. I was going to flee and get out of their way, but I was perusing Oxbow's most recent sale catalog and so stayed attached to my square-headed boyfriend. (Yum! I want a spare $15,000 so I can get all the books I want, including the facsimile editions of the Luttrell Psalter and the Lindesfarne Gospels. [info]ilaifire, I really wish I had the cash sitting around to have this magically appear at your door...)

But I digress (and drool)... The geeks watched Howl's moving Castle and I was enchanted with a little fire demon creature named Calcifer. He was just an adorable hungry little blob, so I decided to make him.

A quick and silly project, but a lot of fun!

With this cold, we all clearly need some extra insulation... Madison restaurant week to the rescue!

About two dozen of the local nicer restaurants host special lunches and dinners where you get three courses for $15-25. The menus are somewhat fixed, but I went to a few places last year and it was worthwhile. Besides, I got to sample dishes I may not have otherwise picked at places I certainly don't frequent.

I at least have the convenient excuse that it's my birthday week, so some celebration is in order... ;) However, I would encourage other folk too - Get dressed up and go try out some new fancy places, just for fun!

I understand than many people do not sew in the... er... volume that I do, but sometimes filling and changing bobbins is an almighty hassle. Especially when I am sewing with white or black (or tonight, gold), I go through so many so quickly, I just wish I could mount a whole spool of thread on the reverse side instead of having to fiddle with the little buggers. Depending on the scale and complexity of the project, I run through thread at an alarming rate. Tonight, although making a conscious effort to use up pre-filled bobbins of "close enough" thread for  zigzagging, I still killed three or four spools of thread. I can't even tell you how many bobbins that is!

So.... you engineering types, work on that will ya? I'll even volunteer to beta test the prototype. ;)

Twelfth Night Projects are coming along nicely, but I still have at least 4 more gifts to sew up and one major embroidery project to squeeze in. Nothing like last minute projects to get one up and running, eh?

*******************************************************************************

On a tangentially related note - I likely will have more black linen available at Twelfth Night. Middle weight black, 95% linen 5% cotton, $5/yard. Email me or see me on site. First come, first served, and quantities are limited!  :)
