Insomnia... Wheeee!

I want an "off" switch installed.

I believe it currently masquerades under the exalted title of "Death", my dear...

I find that polyphony helps, with all that harmonic-curves-in-sound-thing, &, indeed, Gregorian chant is also helpful, in its simplicity. There's Tibetan monk chanting--marvellously deep & resonant. The Russian Orthodox choral tradition also lends itself to low-frequency relaxation. Sometimes, a few "Om-mane-padme-om"s, reaching lower, & lower, into the throat/thorax, assists in calming the Furies.

Hm... I may need to try that...

Try watching this video (be sure you're sitting in a comfy chair):

Happy trees! Oh, the wonders of teh intarwebz...

Actually, that didn't really help - I've been having the itch to paint again lately and just not had the time or energy. There are a few projects I really should force myself to work on, though...

I used to hope that the kids would have a "pause" button.

Jason needs one of those too. I feel for ya.

Have you ever tried Melatonin? I use that sometimes and I like it.

I am extraordinarily sensitive to sleep meds. If I know I NEED to sleep a particular night, I can take something if I have 9 hours to sleep and be OK. If I am still up past 1AM, I'm screwed if I need to be anywhere before noon the following day.

I know exactly what you mean.

That would mean that you would have an "on" switch as well. I don't know if we are collectively ready for that, dear.

Heh. How about a "Turbo" button? ;)

Um. No.

I wish I had a suggestion. I've had trouble the last couple of weeks also - I was up at the same time as you! So sorry; lack of sleep makes me less than human - you do so well compared to me!

Practice makes perfect.

Be careful what you wish for - the way neuroscience is going, they just might come up with one.... but what happens if it breaks in the "off" position?

Do you feel like this is an ongoing problem, or just an "ad hoc" thingie? Is it more mental (mind racing, or at least still churning on), or physical? (I expect that you are well aware of ways to avoid insomnia, but if not, I can gladly share my own experience...)
