I was offline most of Friday-Sunday. If anything important happened or if there was anything I should have noticed, please ping me. I did skim the lists and LJ, but only minimally.

There are some odd or silly things that make me inordinately happy:
  • I recently re-dyed my favorite sweater from the pink it had become back to its original burgundy. It is literally fifteen years old but still in excellent repair, so I gave it a shot. It turned out beautifully, no dark or blotchy spots, and I'm looking forward to continuing to wear it through another decade or so.
  • During rush hour, there were people standing out in the cold at several major intersections with signs supporting Obama. Madison rocks.
  • I have three books on my passenger seat in my car. They are apparently sufficiently mighty tomes to set off the "passenger sensor."
  • Mongolian Grills where I can mix my own sauce so that it makes MY lips tingle and nose run!
  • The local fancy truffle place has several new flavors, including Fromage d'Bleu and Chardonnay Smoked Bacon.
  • On the Colbert Report tonight, Yo-Yo Ma performed with a variety of musicians, including one chick completely rocking out on the bagpipes and some guy on a tear on the accordian.

This past weekend marked an anniversary of sorts. Two years ago, my health issues started that weekend, though at the time I dismissed it as a result of a stressful weekend or perhaps a bad hotel breakfast. :/ Still no resolution on what the hell is wrong, but it has been pretty OK as of late, with only sporadic awful days. *shrug* Fascinating, I know.

gflower  and I had the most wonderful, girly night evah. Dinner, chatting, chocolate, and shopping! We even stopped in Cornblooms to say hi to devikat , so technically there was even shoe shopping, but my only purchases were at the art supply store. I still need to find a satisfactorily small brush, however, especially if I persist with the bitty painting.

This weekend is Halloween! Friday night will be fun at the Resort, Saturday I may go down to All Soul's or I might just be a slug and stay home. Although, if I do stay home, I REALLY need to get some stuff done around here...

"...to set off the "passenger sensor." Is this so you know when the Invisible Mnan is riding shotgun?

"...Yo-Yo Ma performed with a variety of musicians, including one chick completely rocking out on the bagpipes and some guy on a tear on the accordian.". Cool! Wish I could experience that!

"...fancy truffle place has several new flavors...". I can say "Yummy!!". Can you?

Thanks for sharing! S.

"Is this so you know when the Invisible Man is riding shotgun?"
Nah, it's just that my books have enough personality to be a passenger.

"Wish I could experience that!"
Check online - Comedy Central puts a lot of the shows up shortly after they air, especially right now during the election season.

I can say it, not sure I'd apply it to those flavors, but David Bacco has a number of truly tasty treats.

Hmmm... have you tried Artist & Craftsman Supply lately? Are you looking for something like an 0 or 00 round brush? Watercolor or acrylic?

:P Please. 00s are HUGE! I got a marginally acceptable 0000.

I've got an 18/0 at home. It's positively tiny!

I think I have a 20/0 around here somewhere... whether I can find it ATM...

I vote that you hunt down a weasel and take one single hair and tape it to a stick. That should be fine enough for you, right?
eithni: jumpingeithni on October 29th, 2008 04:11 am (UTC)
Heh. A weasel hair brush. That would be cunning! :)
Miss Katzarhooie on October 29th, 2008 04:40 am (UTC)
Almost as cunning as Jayne's hat.

Do you want to go through my brushes? I found four that I thought might be small enough for you.

Even so, it's good to know that most of the time, it's OK, these days!

Of course, that jinxed me. Today was full of suck.
Uncle Mikeybelmikey on October 29th, 2008 04:23 am (UTC)

I'm sorry, hon. *hugs*

Thank you, it was TONS of fun! We should do it again soon.

Speaking of the art supply store and dyeing, did you notice they had these easy-looking dyes? Obviously not for period-style dyeing, but I can imagine needing them for just getting a mass of fabric to change color quickly, maybe for event decor or improving the color of a beloved garment.

I still recommend going by Artist & Supply next time you're downtown; they are next to where I used to live, downstairs from Wasabi and Tropic Jewel just off of State St. They might have a better selection of brushes and there is a good chance they'll have the Japanese gold paint in the dish--I got mine at the A&S (hey! I just noticed that abbreviation! Cool!) in Milwaukee.

I've been in Artist & Supply, but not since they were near my house on Willy. :/ IIRC I have the smallest brush they carry too...

But those dyes look like fun...
