Thing-a-Day - 11/28 - Measuring tape
One of the things in my kit that bugs me is my measuring tape, because of its obviously modern appearance. (Nothing really to be done with yellow plastic-coated tape...) So, for the times when I really care - I have a new measuring tape! The baseline is whipcorded linen and the colored tassels are line embroidery floss.

at 18" - red
at 9" and 27" - blue
every five inches - yellow
first four inch increments - white

The photo is crappy, but you get the idea...

How did you decide what increments to mark? I understand the reasoning on the first four inches, but why 9, 18, and 27 rather than say... 12, 24, and 36?

:P I probably should put in the "foot" marks too... I've just worked so long at fabric stores that the 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 yard increments were the first to occur to me.
