Thing-a-Day - 28/28 - embroidered gown
Yay! 28 things done!

This was an existing linen gown (handsewn with silk thread) to which I added linen embroidery along all of the seams. Now that is not so perfectly plain, I won't be ashamed for Miss goldfrog  to wear it at War. :)

I have always liked the look of the running stitch on seams like that, but rarely bothered to go back and add it after making the tunic or gown. Then I met a lady down here in Ynys Fawr who does hers a logical way. She takes each piece of fabric for the tunic or dress, hems it using a running stitch in a contrasting colour, then whip stitches the hemmed pieces together to make the item of clothing. When I saw this, I couldn't help but wonder "why didn't I think of that?".

That works too. I like the look of the running stitches "turning the corner" when pieces meet, though. I am generally too lazy too, which is why this is an old tunic with new embellishments - I'm lending it to my Queen for War and it was too plain as it was.
