Cleaning, eventing, and noming...
So, this was a really good weekend.

Friday, I got the new door put in. Sadly, it was 2/3 installed before I realized they had made it backwards - right hand in-swing instead of left hand out-swing. I need to call them tomorrow and decide what the options are. :/Then, if I reorder, there will be the waiting for it to be made, delivered, and installed. *sigh* I've been waiting for this door since September and the whole process has been a disaster. In the mean time, however, I finally have a door that lets light into the front hall and does not have a horrid draft. This, at least, is a win. It was not a particularly auspicious start to the weekend, but it got much better from there... In the evening, devikat came over and we did serious damage to the disaster that was my sewing room. There's still a fair bit of work to be done, but real progress has been made with more cleaning to follow in the coming days/weeks.

Saturday was It's Only A Flesh Wound, a fighty event in Jara. While I was no longer contractually obligated to go, I decided to attend and be supportive. This ended up entailing some running around to fix my personal failures (ugh - I need to mind the deadline dates on my lists better), watching a spud for a few minutes, getting to hold and coo over the newest Baronial spud, sewing, yakking, watching some fighting, working on projects (seekrit  and public), giving advice to the vigilant, patterning HrRH, and otherwise having a productive and laid back day.  Dinner was at G&A'a house and included dishes for the next Crown tourney (note to self: send in reservations) and high-quality geeking with Gev and some other fine folk. Yummy. Then the night was rounded out with socializing and imbibing at ladyroisin's. Good, relaxing fun all around.

Sunday we slept in, our brunch guests having canceled, but then eventually got up and had breakfast burritos for brunch. I spent the afternoon cleaning and now my bedroom, the guest room, the living room and dining room are all cleaned to my satisfaction (or at least will be once the sheets are out of the dryer). I even tidied up the kitchen from the light detritus that had accumulated over the last few days and swept the floor. Mr S and Mr SR, two of my Wayward Men, even helped me get the new dryer installed in the laundry, which had been on my to-do list for some time. Then it was time to get gussied up and go enjoy the first of my Restaurant Week dinners. We went to Sardine and I had one of the specials: an apple-currant salad, a lamb-duck-sausage cassoulet, and a dark chocolate mousse dessert, all accompanied by a bottle of dry, fruity white wine. Mr S had the same, except for the house salad instead of the apple-current salad. I really enjoyed the lamb (duh) but the duck was just amazing and the goo they put on the beans made them very, very tasty. And the mousse! Oi! heaven on a plate! By the end of dinner, I was full, a little buzzed, and entirely pleased with the world.

The rest of the night I plan to spend doing some more light cleaning, some reading, and then to bed at a reasonable hour. An entirely enjoyable weekend. :)

Sigh. I used to be your sewing-room cleaning brownie. I'm glad that you have a spare, now that nature has crapped on all of our plans. Dare we make another plan for me to come visit you? I vote yes, but it's honestly up to you!

We could try... Friday I have off, but will already be torturing your monsters. Saturday I have a wedding to go to. I'll be around this Sunday and next Friday and Saturday (plus that will involve some baby shower prep goodness) and Sunday is the shower itself... Any of that work for you?

Next Friday/Saturday- I can help with prep goodness! :D YAY!

Wait... let me go see how that declaration affects the forecast... :)
