Sometimes memories attach themselves to places in an almost corporeal way. Moments sit in corners, biding their time, waiting for the perfect opportunity to stand and make themselves heard again. Living in a place for years will do it, but so will moments bright or painful enough to sear themselves into your emotional landscape - houses, park benches, apartment buildings, shopping malls, narrow streets - each inhabited and inescapable. If you're lucky, they caress your cheek as you walk by... if not, their nails tangle in your hair and rake across your back, old wounds relived with new sting, moments long gone, but ne'er forgotten.

Yes. It happens to me, too, and is sad. Hugs for you.

You need to take up writing for a career! That was profound. Hugs though.

And sometimes memories attach to *things* as well.

Yeah, that too... it didn't fit the conceit as neatly, though.
