Reason #342 why Terry Pratchett is awesome.
I <3 the Discworld novels.

I <3 <3 <3 Good Omens.

And now, inspired by his knighting, he made his own sword, including meteorite iron!

Brilliant!

I thought that was pretty cool. Too bad he cannot carry it around.

Have you ever gotten around to reading Nation? It is *fabulous*, despite nominally being young adult fiction.

No, I have not. Maybe I should pick it up. Some light escapist literature would be good these days. Thanks for the recommendation.

It is not so much on the escapist literature side... but it is a lovely and powerful book, or at least I found it to be so.

Perhaps still worth a look, then.

I saw that too, and though "Way too damn cool!" I was impressed how he even made his own smelting forge from straw and sheep dung.

Do you read Neil Gaiman? (The other mind responsible for Good Omens.) In which case more escapist literature I have enjoyed would include Neverwhere.

Yup. I have a lot of his "kid's lit" but a few adult novels too...

Well then, if you're inclined to put in a movie to aid in entertainment during house-keeping ventures, you can borrow my 6 hour BBC rendition of Neverwhere on DVD. :D

Mebbe. It's the basement that most needs help. Oi.
