Weekend review

Well, I certainly had a full weekend!

Saturday, I got up early to get a jump on the day’s tasks. It was raining, so once again the yard clean up was on hold and painting the porch did not happen either. (Painting puddles is just not a good plan!) I worked on the final tidying in the basement instead until arebekah  came over at about 11AM. We spent the day excavating the garage… I’d hoped it would not take too long, but everything had to be cleaned before it could be moved and put away since there was still a heavy layer of sawdust on every surface. Ugh. Unfortunately, the shopvac corvusjoyous  brought over did not have a lot of suction, so we mostly resorted to brooms and damp rags. We went to Laredo's on our lunch break and stopped by the HospiceCare thrift store where I got some amazing finds, many of which will be useful for TeslaCon and some of which will be useful for SCA purposes. More work on the garage continued upon our return… it actually looks pretty darn nice now – the key will be to keep it up and to continue purging.  I kept curbing things I knew I no longer wanted and which were no longer nice enough to donate somewhere. The Madison Hippy Magic worked – by the end of the day, nothing was left on the curb. There still is a fair bit of stuff that I cannot identify as belonging to anyone in particular, so if you are missing anything you think may have gotten left at my place, now is the time to speak up! In the evening, Blue came over, mainly to be my external motivation, but he helped with some man-with-power-tools-and-strong-hands type tasks as well. I was up entirely too late, but there were things that simply had to get done.

In all, Saturday’s accomplishments were:
Cleaned basement, including storage room and laundry
Did some laundry and a “vinegar load” to freshen up the washer
Cleaned garage, including purging and organizing
Put down mulch and sand in side yard (thanks arebekah !)
Organized boxed and packing materials
Filled my car with donations/things to be rehomed/returned
Tasty Mexican
Thrift store shopping win
Fixed sofit by porch and door bumper in guest room (thanks Blue!)
Finished sorting/purging/putting away materials from in the armoire that was deported
Vacuumed Den and Sewing Room
Washed windows in kids’ room, kitchen, LR, DR
Cleaned downstairs bathroom
Swiftered guest room/master bedroom/hall
Showered
Collapsed at 5AMish

I was up early again on Sunday to make and set out the Open House signs on the corner in hopes of catching the eye of the church-going crowd.

Then I hit the remaining house tasks:

Finished Open House sign

Made two beds with new pretty bedspreads & decorative pillows
Swept and swifered LR/DR/kitchen
Cleaned kitchen
Skyr for “brunch”

Cleaned upstairs bathroom
Dressed all nice n’ stuff
Made cookies

The showings were predominantly to nosy neighbor ladies, but I did get one family through. They were rushed due to kid issues, but they seemed reasonably positive (*hopeful*). Tatiana came over and took some awesome pictures of the house so I got to actually inspect her spud. The realtor who has been working with me on condo showings also came by (of course, all at the same time), and I put in an offer on the condo just around the corner. It’s been on the market for months and the price just dropped to less than I’d been thinking of offering. I put in a low-ball offer, expecting it to be countered. It’s a silly process, but the way the game is played, I guess…

Once everyone was gone, I talked to my momma for a bit and then met relativelylucid  andaaron_pike  for dinner, which was fabulous. Mmmm… Nachos for dinner and then custard for dessert. Awesomeness. I was pretty sure I would pass out cold when I got home, but I caught up on emails and then used the new photos to put up a website for the house. The FSBO Madison site limits you to 10 photos and when the exterior shot plus one shot of each of the bedrooms already eats up half of that, it’s hard to give a good picture of the place. Anyway! Shiny webpage here. (It needs some tweaks, but it's functional.) By then, it was 2AM and waaaay past my bedttime. Must get to bed earlier tonight, ‘cause I was worthless at work today.

Today's paper had an interesting article about a local man who volunteers his time for people in the community. He's going for breadth, not depth, so he'll volunteer for no more than one day for each person. I'll bet you could help him fill out his "volunteer journal."

Huh. How cool! I have most of the work done at this point, of course, but if I discover something I can't do myself and don't want to hire a professional, I'll think about that.

Completely off-topic - will you be at Fighters/Social tomorrow?

I'm planning on it, assuming my cold/cough doesn't get worse. I'm feeling OK this morning, so I should be good to go.

I'm missing a tea bag squisher (looks like flat tongs with holes in one side kinda) and an October Project CD that I know got left in the kitchen player. :P

Neither are horribly urgent things, but if you find them, they can be one less item in your house!

I'll look for them!
