well, poo.
I have not had a particularly successful weekend.

Nordskogen is apparently determined to destroy mightyjesse , the bebe, and me. The last few times we have traveled there together, there has been ugly amounts of snow, resulting in long white-knuckle drives with passed out passengers. Not fun.

The event was largely eaten by meetings, there was no fighting on Saturday and no booze at all (which would have been useful in some of the meetings). No raffle tickets for me, which is prolly for the best, considering the luck I was having.

I usually love handing out Twelfth Night prezzies, but this year things just did not come together so if I found something for someone, they got it and if not, not. I had chocolate for random folks what did not get prezzies, but it still seemed sort of flat - maybe because the day was so fragmented with meetings and going off site for dinner before court. I did have a couple things that were reasonably well received, though, and the dinner itself was tasty, even if the bebe developed a violent dislike of lentils, apparently a first "do not want!" :P

On the other hand, a massive WIN and my main reason for going - Edwin and Margaret were Laureled. O.M.G! *happydance* It's sort of silly to be so stupidly happy about something that does not really affect me, but I am, so there! Edwin has been an inspiration to me since my very early days in the SCA and one of the people that I never have to worry about being too geeky with. That is *invaluable* to me. Margaret I have gotten to know better over the last few years and I really appreciate her scholarship and wicked wit. I was practically vibrating with glee and their lovely ceremony gave me geeky ecstasies. Vivant! :D

I got to half of the postrevels I had planned on - I had planned to go to Kent's as phase two of the night, but there was some Scotch what needed killin' and I was one of the brave volunteers to do the needful. ;) The Scotch was lovely, conversation fun, and I acquired some blackmail-appropriate photos from Khadijah... still, I don't know... *sigh* Usually, I'm pretty good at social interactions, but sometimes I am utter fail. Anyway, I apparently missed some quality silliness and Rigo-antics over at Kent's - it made good conversation on Sunday, though.

Saturday night was even more fragmented than the day - we got in late, the bebe was fussy, then sirzig came in at o'god o'clock and the bebe woke up again, then she was up bright and early too. Whee! I don't know how new parents do it.

The Sunday event was uneventful - I sewed, had Aramanthra noms, then helped with cleanup. There was a guerrilla raid on IKEA (ack! PACKED with people), then a tasty, tasty dinner with good company.

The drive back was somewhat faster than the drive up, but still involved multiple stops, none of them particularly quick, and I was incredibly tired and stiff by the time we got back to Madison. I *should* have gone by the gym, but I failed. Logged on instead and discovered that I'd accidentally muddled up some stuff this weekend. *facepalm*

Tomorrow, I get to try to make an appointment and find out why the check engine light on my car came on during the drive home from mightyjesse 's. Whee! :P

I don't know if you talked to Merouda at all--they actually made it to Eau Claire and stopped, because of the weather and other people's stupid driving caused by the weather.

For the check engine light, go to an auto parts store that offers free analysis and have them check the code before you pay someone to look at it.

Thanks... And, again, CONGRATS! :D I am soooo pleased!

Sorry the weekend was less than spectacular. Also, make sure your gas cap is on tight (if it's loose, the Check Engine Light will come on because air is getting into your fuel line). If it's loose, it may take a couple days for the light to go off after you tighten it (depending on how much you drive the car).

I continue to maintain that the weather is His Majesty "The Storm King"'s fault. Especially as no one in Nordskogen will confess to having ordered this weather.

I explicitly ordered mild and NO SNOW.

Oh, I'm perfectly happy to blame the weather on Hrodir, Mister-Storm-King-Majesty. :P

Well, since it's been snowing seemingly nonstop since sometime in November, I wouldn't take it personally on the snow. *sigh*

Yeah, I've heard check engine light often means you need a new oxygen sensor or something, too, so not too big a deal.

Thank you for the coffee - the only other coffee I've ever been "gifted" was the pre-packaged stuff my dad stole from his hotel rooms :P

Oooh... lucky you!

Well ya know, free is free :) (and I add enough sugar/creamer that it doesn't usually matter)

I'm sorry we didn't get more time to talk at the event. Makes me doubly glad we got time in both directions of my road trip!

:) I agree! I'd have happily taken bonus Mikey time, though!

Hopefully we'll get some time together again soon! Not sure when my next Madtown trip is, at the moment, but I'll let you know!

Thank you again, very much for the book. Much geekage will ensue, once I have a chance to go over it in greater detail.

Sorry I nearly broke you during court, but I couldn't resist. Bad, bad baroness.

Yes, bad, bad baroness indeed. ;P
