Thing-a-Day and Challenges
So, I am trying the Thing-a-Day Challenge again this year. I've done it the last few years, but this year is a little different. In past years when I've really looked forward to it, been ready for it, had a blast with it. This year, it seems a little harder. 28 days is not that long, but it's staring me in the face and I just want to go hide in my bed.

But I won't.   I'll do it.   I need to do it.

No, no one is forcing me to do it, except me. These have been an incredibly rough few months, socially, physically, emotionally, professionally. I'm tired and the cold of winter is making me miserable. I've been skipping out on so many things, one by one, things have been slipping away from me, and this is sort of my line in the sand. I gotta fight it, even if my everything hurts, even if I'm exhausted. These are things I like to do, dammit.

That said, I have also drawn a line on the physical stuff too. It's too early to tell if the weight lifting/PT is helping or contributing to the joint aches. For now, we are going to blame it on the winter and push forward. The gym-going is still an early habit and I'm wasn't sure how to make it interface well with the Thing-a-Day, since both usually eat a few hours of the day and I already don't sleep so much.

So, here's my compromise: visits to the gym count as a Thing, if necessary. Ideally, I get a gym visit and a Thing done every day, but if not, then I am "creating" a new habit and hopefully a new me with less hurtiness. (Why can't I just have bionic joints? Much easier!) In exchange, on the days that I DO do a Thing, I will try to do a second Thing if I failed the day before or to do the prep work on a new Thing so I might be able to squeeze in a Thing on an otherwise busy day.

So - RAWR! Behold Thing 1:

Seven fabric holiday gift bags (3 medium, 4 large). I gave a few batches of these as Christmas gifts to my aunts a few years ago, and they have requested "refills" for next year, so I may as well get started.

Prep project: More bags ready to sew (probably enough for two or three days' Things)

Fear my mighty craftiness.

You rock! I love the idea that you are doing your Thing by working out - you are building yourself, regardless!

Keep on keeping on! :)

I am quivering in fear of your keen crafting skillz.

(actually, I am totally envious of your overall productivity, but also and especially for the Thing stuff.

Oh, and working out absolutely counts as a Thing.
