Reflections on War
Gauge and I were talking over Scotch on Tuesday night and mulling over this most recent Gulf Wars. I'd generally enjoyed myself, but felt a little bit at loose ends and was having trouble pinning down why that would be so when I was busy so much of the time. I think I finally hit on it, though - I had no firm obligations for the entire week. No classes to teach, no meetings to attend, no meals to cook, no battles to fight, no oasis to maintain, no real commitments. By and large, I could decide on a moment's notice whether or not I was going to partake in an activity. Very, very odd, but I guess that's what I get for deciding to go on like four days' notice. It was intended to be a break, but I think I may have gone a bit too far - the retaining and waterbearing shifts helped, as did the pick up whipcording class I taught, but excessive loafing just made me feeling as if I had misplaced something all week long... Ah well, it's not like this is likely to be a chronic issue in my world. :P

See, even shopping was a fail for me. The only thing I wanted was more fabric, which I certainly don't NEED. :p

Tell you what: next time we're both at war together, you can do all the stuff I'm supposed to do, just to help you feel better. ;p

All the stuff? That could be FUN. :D *plots stilts and a Morcar-disguise*

You didn't let him drink that oh so tasty scotch you bought Monday?

Oh, gods no! That would've killed him. :p Evil Eithni's was pouring a nice Vom Fass selection.

See. I'd take the "nothing required" war versus the "no u can't do that war" I had at Estrella. I felt like an invalid cause I wasn't allowed to do anything and even the EMTs were keeping track of my movements. Lol.

It's good though that this shouldn't be a common issue with you. It would drive you crazy if it was. Or maybe crazier than you are? (grin) though we like your brand of crazie. Hugs!

I think either of those options would make me nuts (in a different way than usual). Again, neither is likely to be a routine problem, so I'll not worry about it overmuch.

Congrats again on your spud! I can't wait to see more pictures... I don't suppose you'll be at Quest?

No quest for us for a bit. We hope our first big trip will be the griffin dyeworks retreat in June. 10hours by car into socal.

I have to rework my clothing for feeding.

There are more pictures on Flickr. If u aren't on it I can send u a guest pass.

OK, I figured, but thought I'd ask.

I have looked at Flikr pages before, but never formally signed up, so yes, please send a pass when you get a moment!

See, now I had the complete opposite war. I was so busy, that I really didn't get to play much. I think if I'd finished the banners before war, or just earlier, I would have had more "me" time. That's how it goes, I guess. And I did get more sleep that I expected, which was nice.

Oh, I was plenty BUSY - I found plenty of classes and activities I was interested in - I just didn't have many COMMITMENTS.

I can relate. I'm usually happiest when I feel needed, and have a job to do and know what I'm gonna do and when.
