Shades of a fire...
Whether it was transfer from a Pennsic-thing moved during today's flurry of straightening, or a lingering smoke-sprite cleverly hidden in my hair, or a simple trick of memory and moonlight, tonight was seasoned by the smell of woodsmoke and starlight and dew. Pungent, bringing pleasant memories, though with an undercurrent of both longing and expectation, a sensory song of peace to sing me off to bed, there to dream of Wars past and present and pending.

I get a variant of that my first few days home. I may "wake" up at night, but I am still seeing the stripes and peaked roof of my tent over the striped walls.

I do wonder how the privy got so much closer, and in the tent...

Heh. This year the portas were closer than my bathroom at home, which has both pluses and minuses. :p

Flushies would be a plus.

Privies, not so much...

I brought all of our clothes home in those "seal & roll" packing bags. Every time I open on to throw into the washing machine, out drifts the scent of woodsmoke. *sigh*

I can't wait for the next camping event.

I did all the laundry the first weekend back, but I know what you mean. Scent is so evocative. :)
